Wolfon Wear Fashion Show Makeup

As I prepared to go to the Wolfon Wear Show, I stopped for a few quick pictures.(as always... never to shy for the camera)

I dyed Dominique with Textures n Tones Reddish Orange and this is what I got... Go figure! Either way, I am really enjoying my summer color. I wanted to try a smokey look. Dunno If I am in love with it or not. I feel as if I am a batgirl stand in. Hmmm whaddaya think?

RANDOM!!! Does anyone remember R. Kelly's song,”Summer Bunny”?
Am I showing my age with that one? Ooops... I just liked the song. It's totally THROWBACK but cool enough to untwist my hair to

P.S. Remind me never to allow my children or my husband to snap anymore pictures.  They always catch me off guard fussing, with my mouth WIDE open or suing something that makes the pictures look.... hmmm to say the least. AWKWARD FAIL!!

My WTHECK face!!!

I have been having such a great few weeks. I mean totally like a movie, at least in my mind anyways. My hair, Dominique, has been cooperating pretty well. Therefore, no overdramatic breakdowns due to a jacked twist out or wash and go. It seems my hair is as  content in being happy as I am. YAYYYY!!!!

I am always up for a little goofy moment after receiving my "bag of happiness"

Boeuf Bourguignon aka Beef Burgundy

Here is my first  triumph over a French recipe!!! I made Boeuf Bourguignon from my French Cookbook. This had all the beginnings of something great with bacon, BUTTER, green onions, braised small pearl onions, Chianti wine, carrots and garlic to boot. I had no clue I was sautéing my mushrooms completely wrong. By wrong, I mean I thought I had it down. Then here comes Ms. Julia with her super great recipe for people like me, who love to cook. It was a genuine labor of love as I scurried to get all the things in order. I had to dry the beef, which made it brown so much nicer. I also had to braise onions as a component to the final recipe. I learned a new wine and discovered that it was so not to my personal liking. Yes, as beautiful a the bottle of Chianti was, I think I will stick to fruity girly drink that come with Rum or Vodka and little umbrellas attached to my glass.

Initially, I thought that this would be just another boring beef stew with a fancy name. Yet, I was very much surprised by the great, flavorful notes. Needless to say, my family is totally on board for my cooking craze...

Here's to a great meal that surprised me with every bite

Does This Make Me Look FAT?!?!?

The dreaded question most women have asked as least once in their lifetime.... The thought just drives me batty. No matter how early I get up, I still fumble trying to get my "look" down in time enough to scuttle out the door and fall into my chair for class. I am proud to say that I am a chunkeroo... I thoroughly enjoy a good sandwich, or ribs,  to the fullest. If it is great cuisine, I will be somewhere wanting to get my hands and face in it.  Several times a year, I psych myself up for a new weightloss regimen yet somehow I often land back at the plate of something drizzled in butter. I AM TINA AND I AM IN LOVE WITH A GOOD MEAL!!! Whew!! There, I said it. In Fashion, that is the LAST thing I should be saying but hey.. I love food.
I get frustrated on truly fat days where nothing fits as I had planned in my head. So, a 30 minute time frame to get dresses turns into.. roughly 70 minutes of sheer torture.  And to add insult to injury... my associates who have never weighed more than a buck o' 5 sopping wet with weights on.. all say that they too are in the same boat... They are fat. I digress but only after gouging my eyes out, in my mind, of course.

After all, fashion and style is individualized right? I am a pear..here me roar!! grrr (mmm ribs) If i loathe anything in this world it would have to be asking a male if what I am wearing makes me look like a cheese puff with a marshmallow wrapping... AHHHHHHH!!!! Men! They just don't get it or do they?
Asking my spouse anything with the words, shopping, fit, or fat in the sentence is usually a death blow to my ego.. All in all I enjoy great clothes that fit and a great plate.

Who's Easter Is It Anyway?

Easter has become such an $$$$$ holiday!! Crazy thing is.. most people, in my mind, have no clue why they even spend as much as they do.  Even still I must admit, I truly loved getting my little princesses all dolled up to say a speech they will never remember after it reaches the atmosphere. Yet year after year we, like drones prepare for a holiday that supposed to celebrate the resurrection of Chirst yet it does everything but... This year I decided to just enjoy our day with fun and love instead of emptying my bank account for something so frivolous as baskets, bunnies, chickens that lay colorful eggs and severely expensive dress and accessories. We hit the park and played until we could no longer stand it. It happened to be a greta park in our new area. It was a totally new atmosphere filled with families and their eagerness to share their love.

Instead of spending $100 for each total look. I decided to scale back drastically. I saved so much money and the girls still looked adorable.

HAPPY RESURRECTION DAY ( yes I know it's a little late... )

My Journey Into French Cooking

I recently won a bid on Ebay for a 2 book set of Julia Child's cookbooks, "Mastering The Art Of French Cooking" Vols. 1 & 2.
I really enjoy food and the art of getting it from market to fork. I should be a professional foodie but then what would I do with this girlish figure... HAHAH oh wait... that left after my first bout of child delivery. With no inhibitions, I shall cook my way through these books. I know that trying to follow these cookbooks within a year has already been done and a movie has been made. My goal with this is simply to try new dishes.

I must admit that I am super guilty of watching the movie and then being inspired to get my hands on these great cookbooks to try new recipes. These 2 books cover so many subjects. There's no wonder why people were watching this item like a hawk. It has a whole chapter for eggs... I mean what can I say but I hope my hunny enjoys my mini journey into the world of French cooking. I mean, I know that I am by far no Julia Childs or Amy Adams playing Julie but I love good food. That should be enough,... right? I will find out soon here goes nothing.

XOXO,
Tina

Apples and Pears Part 1

It's that time of year again that everyone gets on some diet in preparation for the upcoming summer. In the South, summer is DEFINITELY a MAJOR deal. We nip, tuck, and all but slide around on the floor to get into our favorite jeans, skirts and dresses. Let's face it. Summer is the yellow brick road and you, my friend are Dorothy, trying to get to the Emperor. As we place the heavy things in the closet until winter rolls back around, we spring forward with hot new things for the summer months.  But before you run out and buy brand new things.... I have a question for all my gal pals and the likes...

DO YOU KNOW YOUR CURRENT SHAPE???!?!?

Such a simple question that lays many women dead in their tracks. Most people just grab what they feel looks great or even feels great. How much better would one feel if they knew how to dress their body and pick pieces that compliment it rather than assault it and fight against what you naturally possess???

There are a few basic shapes and here we will refer to some of them as fruit so it can be seen with the simplest of eyes.

1)Hourglass- Where your shoulders/bust equivalent to the measurement of the widest part of your hips are. Example measurements are 36-24-36. These ladies are very curvy. Less than 10% of women are true "hour glass" shapes. The defining factor is the waistline. It should be 8-12" smaller than bust and hips. Weight is generally evenly spread out regardless of how much you gain.Concerning your clothing.. Hourglass shapes can generally wear form fitting pieces with ease. Majority of women would give their left arm to have a classic hour glass shape!!! The most important piece of information I can give an hourglass is to make sure to keep an arsenal of proper fitting undergarments, especially bras to go with that banging body. Work it ladies!!!!

Great examples of true to definition hourglass shapes would be Beyonce, Kim K and the infamous Marilyn Monroe

2)Pear or also called the Triangle shape- We "pears" are the majority yet when speaking to individuals on the basic knowledge of how to present this beautiful piece of God-given artwork... they are at a loss for words. OK, well let Me drop some knowledge (man that really dates me, doesn't it HEE HEE)

Pears usually have smaller busts, narrow or sloping shoulders, and wider hips. Dressing the pear can be daunting with the fashion geared more towards hourglass with the super tight "cut your circulation OFF" dresses, tops, etc. But have no fear. I have YOUR back. Now, a true pear shape has nothing to do with how BIG your butt is, but the width of your actual hips. Most times, if this is rather confusing use a friend and have them look at you from behind. This is usually a surefire way to know your shape.  Great pieces for us pears are Jackets... Yes JACKETS!!! The structure of a great jacket balances out your body. Since we are smaller on the top, it is imperative to decorate it as well as possible. Tops with something going on up top are usually a great way to go. Ruffles, jeweled necklines, long chains and other things along these guidelines work great of us pears. Things to stay AWAY from- stripes that run horizontally on your bottom. If it's one thing that makes me "madder than a junkyard dog" it's seeing wide hips with wide horizontal stripes... WHHHYYY!!!! These make your widest part look even wider.. Stop it immediately!! Put those down and run!!! Now on the other hand, vertical stripe are great due to their lengthening nature. If you want to look taller and leaner, grab some vertical stripes. I must admit finding vertical stripes that aren't granny can be a draining task... but once you find pieces that are... It's like a great celebration that only you are in voted to. WOOOOO!!!(Throws confetti!!!!)

Jeans, Jeans and more jeans. Jeans were so great the Ginuwine made an ode to the jean, or for the lack of better terms whats in those jeans... Pears and jeans go together better than peach cobbler and vanilla ice cream. Yes, it's just that good. The best jeans to balance out your body are flare, boot cut, bell bottoms and straight leg jeans. Skinny, tapered jeans aren't totally out but let's just say they aren't on the top 10 list either. I LOVE skinny jeans... But with this butt and no heavy artillery up top... shhhheshh I have to plan super carefully to pull off a pair of those bad boys. A trick that I have learned to pulling off skinny jeans or a tapered trouser--- HEELS!!! Once again, it gives you a longer leaner leg.

The best example of a pear - Alicia Keys, J Lo and Buffy The Body
There's no doubt about it. These ladies show pears how to rock at any occasion.
